Karnataka: Coffee, Forest & Palace

A 10-day private Karnataka journey with palace heritage in Mysore, three nights around Kabini and three in Coorg's coffee country.

Bengaluru → Mysore → Kabini → Coorg → Mangaluru

Use this route as a starting point. We can add a night where you want to linger, introduce a special interest or adjust the hotels to suit your style.

Karnataka offers a satisfying change of scene without needing to combine every famous monument in the state. This journey moves from Bengaluru to Mysore, then spends three nights each in the Kabini area and Coorg. Culture, wildlife and coffee country each have their own space. It suits travellers who enjoy staying put long enough to notice the place, while accepting that safari mornings and the final hill-road transfer need careful planning.

What makes this route different

  • Give Mysore two nights for the palace, neighbourhoods and a less hurried introduction to the city.
  • Use a three-night Kabini stay to allow for requested safari sessions and quiet time between them.
  • Finish in Coorg with estate surroundings, regional food and optional short outings rather than compulsory trekking.

Your 9-night stay plan

  • Bengaluru1 night
  • Mysore2 nights
  • Kabini3 nights
  • Coorg3 nights

Pace and practicalities

Moderate overall, with potential early starts and bumpy safari drives. Safaris depend on permits, availability and current operating conditions; wildlife sightings cannot be promised. Coorg involves winding roads. Tell us if long vehicle days or uneven ground are a concern so that the route and experiences can be adjusted.

Your day-by-day journey

DAY 01

Arrive in Bengaluru

Meet your driver and settle into your Bengaluru hotel. Keep the arrival evening simple, especially after a long flight. Your onward road journey begins the following day, giving you time to recover. If you already know Bengaluru, a convenient location for the next stage may matter more than a full city programme.

Overnight: Bengaluru

DAY 02

Bengaluru to Mysore

Travel to Mysore and check into your hotel for two nights. Depending on road conditions and your interest, a selected stop near Srirangapatna may fit along the way. Keep the rest of the day flexible, with a short local outing or time to enjoy the hotel after the drive.

Overnight: Mysore

DAY 03

Mysore's palace and city life

Explore Mysore Palace and a selection of city experiences with a guide, allowing for opening arrangements and the walking involved. Markets or a craft encounter can add a different perspective if you enjoy them. An afternoon break keeps the day comfortable, and additional sightseeing is a choice rather than an obligation.

Overnight: Mysore

DAY 04

Mysore to Kabini

Continue to your lodge in the Kabini area and settle in for three nights. The afternoon programme depends on the lodge, arrival time and any confirmed safari booking. A nature-focused stay also means time to enjoy the surroundings between organised activities, so arrival need not be followed immediately by another drive.

Overnight: Kabini

DAY 05

A day around the forest

Join a prebooked safari if it forms part of your confirmed arrangements. Start times, vehicles and routes follow the applicable operating rules. Return for meals and rest between activities. The experience centres on the forest and its wildlife as a whole; no particular animal sighting can be guaranteed.

Overnight: Kabini

DAY 06

Kabini at your pace

A further safari session can be requested, subject to availability, or you may prefer a quieter lodge day. Discuss any guided nature activity with the property and follow local restrictions. Keeping a third night gives more flexibility than treating the forest as a brief stop between two long road journeys.

Overnight: Kabini

DAY 07

Kabini to Coorg

Travel into Coorg, also known as Kodagu, and check into your estate-style stay for three nights. Roads become more winding as the landscape changes. Build in breaks and leave the remainder of the day for settling in, taking in the surroundings and enjoying a meal without further travel.

Overnight: Coorg

DAY 08

Coffee country and local flavours

Request a guided estate visit to understand the cultivation and processing associated with the property. What can be seen depends on the working season, weather and host. Keep walking distances appropriate to you, then return for an unhurried afternoon. A regional meal can be discussed with the stay in advance.

Overnight: Coorg

DAY 09

A flexible day in Coorg

Choose a short excursion, another estate experience or a full day enjoying your accommodation. Viewpoints and town visits can be selected around your location, avoiding unnecessary driving across the district. This is also a useful breathing space if rain changes earlier outdoor plans. Trekking is optional, not required by the itinerary.

Overnight: Coorg

DAY 10

Coorg to Mangaluru and departure

Travel towards Mangaluru for a suitably timed onward flight. The winding road transfer needs a generous buffer, and some flight schedules will work better with an additional airport-area night. We check this before confirming your route; Bengaluru departure is another option if it better suits the overall travel plan.

Departure day

The sequence is a suggested plan. Flights, permits, opening days, weather and local conditions may require adjustments; your final itinerary will confirm arrangements.

Choosing your stays

The suggested mix is a convenient Bengaluru hotel, a Mysore heritage or contemporary property, a nature lodge in the Kabini area and an estate-style stay in Coorg. Lodge meal plans and safari access vary, so the quotation will specify the property, included activities and any permit-dependent arrangements.

Questions about this journey

How many safaris are included?

The number is agreed in your quotation after checking availability and the selected lodge's arrangements. The itinerary leaves space for sessions but does not promise a fixed number before booking.

Do we need to trek in Coorg?

No. Coffee-estate visits, relaxed meals and shorter outings can form the whole stay. Even estate paths may be uneven, so we discuss the walking involved before selecting an activity.

Why finish at Mangaluru?

It can avoid returning across the route to Bengaluru. However, the Coorg transfer uses winding roads and flight options need checking. An extra gateway night or a different departure airport may be more suitable for your booking.
